Answer opinion questions to establish the reading. Understand the difficult words that will be used in the book. Use evidence from the novel to discover why Ralph liked bikes so much. Have the students describe an exciting adventure in which they participated. Create new idioms such as "silent as a mouse". Identify in a flow chart the problems that Keith finds, and how it leads them to find a way to solve each problem. In accordance with your State Standards and written Bloom's Taxonomy, also include additional crossword puzzles, word searches, comprehension tests and a response key.
About the Novel:
Meet Ralph, the boisterous and reckless mouse who lives at the Mountain View Inn. During a vacation, Keith Grindley brings his bike, and through the hole in the mousetrap, Ralph falls in love with her. They make friends and share the bike. Ralph is involved in many entertaining situations. While looking for an aspirin for his sick friend, Ralph is caught by two teachers. Finally, Ralph runs away and finds an aspirin and brings it to Keith. Now that Keith's family vacation is coming to an end, he wants to bring Ralph home with him. However, Ralph wants to stay in the pension, since that is his home. Keith gives the bike to Ralph so he can enjoy it when they both take separate paths.
